If extract_metadata() fails, it will free metadata in its own error path, so it is safe to simply return the provided error value without worrying about resource handling/releasing. Moreover, if we simply return in extract_metadata()'s error path, we can assume the thread of execution will only make it down into the free_metadata: tag area sometime after extract_metadata()'s success, in which case metadata will need to be freed without question. ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
